For hundreds of years, the Alwin family has ruled over Amorrosa, with fair and just hands, helping even the lowest of peasants should the need arise. Like Camelot before them, Amorrosa was a city of prosperity, happiness and peace, until a dark shadow overtook the city with the arrival of another pretender to the throne, a man who claimed that his family had been overthrown unjustly and sought revenge.
The Thornbrough's insist that they have stronger blood ties to the Kingdom of Amorrosa and all of the surrounding areas, where each dutchy is ruled by another. Unable to defeat the King of Amorrosa, Thornbrough set his sights on the largest village under the King's laws; Ellesmar, a village led by a woman whose Father had died in battle for the King. Lady Afton Devonshire of Ellesmar has tried to keep peace among her people since she assumed her Father's powerful position at the age of sixteen, but was confronted with treats, acts of violence and vows of later victory from Thornbrough as he attempted to take the city from her. To repay the debt of loyalty that he felt was given at her father's death, the King of Amorrosa proposed a way in which Amorrosa could directly aid Ellesmar from Thornborough's influence.
Should an alliance be formed between Amorrosa and Ellesmar, Thornbrough would be so greatly outnumbered that he would not dare attack anywhere else, the other dutchies being strong enough to defend themselves. The alliance, brought about by way of marriage, meant a betrothal between Lady Afton and the King's only son. The wedding is supposed to take place within a month, but if Thornbrough and his supporters have anything to say about it, it will not take place at all.
